Dashboard Confessional Brings Out The Inner Emo In Silver Spring, MA

Fillmore Silver Spring, Silver Spring, MA

Early 2000’s Emo heartthrob Chris Carrabba and band mates in Dashboard Confessional brought their latest tour to the Fillmore in Silver Spring along with acoustic duo This Wild Life and Vinyl Theatre as support.

Opening up the night was one of my personal favorites, This Wild Life. An acoustic duo from California took the stage after they just recently left their own tour to take on this amazing opportunity and I’m proud to say good for them. Songs they performed consisted of some older songs such as Concrete. Kevin Jordan, lead vocalist and guitarist also brought things to a more personal level as he informed the crowd about his mother’s battle with cancer and how he wrote a song to show his appreciation for his mother, called No More Bad Days. The whole venue lit up with cell phone flashlights swaying back and forth. Such a great time seeing these guys.

Up next was a band of three known as Vinyl Theatre. All the way from Milwaukee, Wisconsin three guys started this band back in 2012 and played to a crowd a bit older than them. The band started getting warmed up by playing songs such as Shine On, Summer and Speak My Mind. Not only did the band play some of their own material they threw in a few covers from Coldplay and Blink 182. It’s safe to say they succeeded with getting the crowd warmed up for Dashboard Confessional.

Finally, after two great sets from the opening bands, the lights went out and bursts of red and flashes of white lights lit the stage as Chris Carrabba and the rest of Dashboard Confessional took the stage. Carrabba had nothing but a huge smile on his face as they opened up with If You Can’t Leave it Be. You can tell the sold out crowd was reminiscing their so called “emo days” as Dashboard Confessional played songs such as Saints and Sailors, The Good Fight and Again I Go Unnoticed. Not only did the band play some older jams of theirs, they threw in a cover of Julien Bakers’ Sprained Ankle. After an 18 song set list that took the fans down their early 2000′ memory lane, the band ended their set with Vindicated, following an single song encore of Hands Down.
