New Found Glory & Yellowcard Gets All Of Maryland Off Their Feet

New Found Glory & Yellowcard
October 22, 2015
The Fillmore- Silver Spring, MA

Believe it or not, New Found Glory and Yellowcard have never went on a proper U.S. tour together, other than Warped Tour and shows across the sea, but finally the time has come and those in attendance on Thursday night were about to experience one of the most energetic pop-punk shows at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Treated as a co-headlining tour, New Found Glory got to open the show with hits that came out strong, featuring off their newest record,  Resurrection, and some older hits such as Understatement and Hit Or Miss. New Found Glory always does a good job of incorporating songs from all albums. Guitarist, Chad Gilbert pointed out a fan, named Pablo; Gilbert saw Pablo in the crowd texting, yet singing every song word for word. Gilbert had security get the fan up on stage to pick any song of his choice that wasn’t on the set list. Pablo picked one of their older songs called Boy Crazy off their self-titled record. As expected songs like Dressed To Kill and Sonny were also played. As always New Found Glory leaving everyone all gave a highly energetic and rowdy set hyped up for Yellowcard to take the stage.

Fans started to get crazy and all pumped up as Yellowcard started their set strong with Breathing and Way Away they kept up the energetic pace early in the set with Lights and Sound and Light Up The Sky. The cheering continued all the way through the band’s biggest single which closed out the night, Ocean Avenue. Yellowcard definitely gave fans a set list to sing back to them, jump around to, and yes crowd surfing early on in the set. Yellowcard definitely took the energy NFG left behind with the crowd and blew the roof off this place. The set was a good mixture of some of the good, old music and some of the newer tracks making for a fast paced set only slowing down for a (fantastic) solo piano rendition of Empty Apartment. While the their latest album Lift A Sail had a somewhat darker and more serious feel, the songs really showed how great it was to be played live.

Tigers Jaw opened up the show which was a twist considering they are more of an indie-rock type band but definitely got most the crowd all hyped up for when New Found Glory took the stage.
