The Prepare For Hell Tour Ft. Slipknot & Korn Roll Through Chicago

Slipknot & Korn
November 28, 2014
Allstate Arena- Chicago, IL

The Prepare for Hell tour rolled into Chicago on Black Friday. While many people were out shopping, the Metal fans sold out Allstate Arena to show their support for music.
King 810 hails from Flint, MI and their freshman album, Memoirs of a Murderer tells the tales of living in the most dangerous city in the USA, something Korn Chicago-Allstate Arena (1)Chicago knows all too well. Playing a powerful 30 minute set, the boys from Flint showed hints of what could become a breakout year for King 810.
20 years ago, Korn released their self-titled album and became the face of the new metal genre. While most bands are content to play their greatest hits, tour after tour, Korn keeps pushing the envelope of metal. With the return of guitarist, Brain “Head” Welch, the band seems to be rejuvenated and ready for the next 20 years. Playing close to an hour that included all the hits, as well as songs off the album, The Paradigm Shift. There was talks of Korn playing their debut album in its entirety but seems this will be saved for their solo tour, we hope.
It’s been a long 6 years that we waited for a new album from Slipknot and with the release .5: The Gray Slipknot Chicago-Allstate Arena (20)Chapter, they did not disappoint fans with one of the best albums of the year. Coming back on tour in an age where the words, “Rock is Dead” are being thrown around, did not stop Slipknot playing arena and selling out night after night on this new Prepare for Hell tour that we’ll see them playing around the world for the next 2 years. With two new members in the band, “names withheld” for the drummer and bassist, many questioned if they could keep up with the high standard of playing of Paul Gray and Joey Jordison and they did not disappoint. With a stage setup straight out of Clown’s satanic church scene – Neon lights, goat head’s, fire, and a giant demon face straight out of hell – Slipknot opened with Sarcastrophe, off the new album. Singer, Corey Taylor commanded the stage, even with all that was going around him.  They played a mixture of songs from their 5 albums and more on the heavier side, giving the fans exactly what they wanted. They ended their set with an encore of (sic), People=Shit, and Surfacing.
2014 is just a hint of what’s to come as they have been announced as headliners for many festivals around the USA and world including Fort Rock, Welcome to Rockville, and Rock on the Range.
