The Roxy Theater- Los Angeles, CA

Last Thursday, May 15, 2014, the duo, Royal Blood, from the UK finally came to Los Angeles, CA to the Roxy theater, and they took fans by surprise. Being a newer, lesser known band, it was difficult to know what to expect from the guys and judging by the fully packed and overly hipster crowd, it seemed as though Royal Blood would play over-done, way too long of songs. While the lighting was no less than epileptic, these two men were quick and mesmerizing enough that I quickly felt bad that I had even fathomed any less.

Their set started with Hole, the first 3 second drone was doomy enough that the drop went into a catchy, head banging, mosh pitting mood that lasted throughout their seven song set. Being more of a alt-rock band, it was interesting and truly amazing to see Ben Thatcher pound his drums as most metal and hard rock bands do. Because the band is newer, they didn’t have many songs to perform, which is the only complaint we can think of; even with an encore song, their set was under 45 minutes. We would love to see these guys again when they release a full album and know that they will become huge.
