Penguin Prison Brings Synth-Pop To Los Angeles

Penguin Prison
July 24, 2015
Roxy Theater- Los Angeles, CA

Four years after his debut album, Chris Glover, AKA Penguin Prison returned with Lost in New York in May of 2015. The album quickly gained him more recognition as an up and coming artist and ultimately led to a SOLD OUT Roxy Theater show on July 24, 2015.

Coming out with a full band that consisted of drums, guitar and bass, Penguin Prison began their set with Calling Out and Never Gets Old, both being the most popular songs from the recent album. Fans, who consisted of mainly young adults, were instantly dancing to the upbeat, synth pop tunes. The music immediately put everyone in a ‘feel good’ mood which continued throughout the night. Glover would occasionally pick up the guitar which showed his range as a musician because he is often misjudged as just a DJ- not as magnificent lyricist, performer and all around musician that he actually is.

The night continued more crowd favorites including Show Me the Way, Hollywood and the encore Don’t Fuck With My Money which had everyone cheering in excitement for. All in all, Penguin Prison put on an enjoyable show that brought out a significant amount of young people. He could just become the new face of synth pop so be sure to check out his album and keep your eyes opened for his tour!
