The Fillmore – Silver Spring, MD

A Sunday night concert to start the week isn’t always a bad thing. Opening up the night, a band from Götenborg Sweden, Avatar and their circus themed attire took the stage and instantly the brought the energy everyone needed to start their week. The band had a good handful of songs to play with a goal of warming up the crowd and getting them rowdy enough for Of Mice & Men and In This Moment to take the stage. To name a few songs Avatar played were opening song Hail The Apocalypse as well as Bloody Angel, Black Waltz, Let It Burn and Smells Like A Freakshow.

Up next to take the stage was Of Mice & Men. After losing their original singer Austin Carlile, the band still stands strong with new singer Aaron Pauley who was the bass player, when Carlile was still in the band. The crowd as rowdy as they were for Avatar, they seemed to be even rowdier for Of Mice & Men. Their set consisted of a constant stream of crowd surfers, circle pits and singing back to the band. A few songs played during their set consisted of a few older songs such as The Flood, The Depths and Never Giving Up. The band also played You Make Me Sick as vocalist Pauley called for a massive circle pit, the crowd did not hesitate at all. Despite a change in vocals Of Mice & Men are back and better than ever! We can’t wait to see what else they have in store!

Finally after two fantastic sets from two incredible bands, In This Moment was ready to take the stage and perform hit after hit. With a production that was insanely incredible throughout the twelve songs they got to perform and put on a show for. For each song the setting of the stage changed as well as the costumes which were absolutely amazing. To name off a few songs played throughout the night were Blood, River of Fire, Black Wedding and a Phil Collins cover of In the Air Tonight.

About mid-way through the night, hit after hit and costume changes, eventually vocalist Maria Brink introduced her band and how they met which was nice of her to do. A few songs after that their twelve song setlist ended with Oh Lord. Just when fans thought the night was over, the band came back out for an encore of their most popular hit called Whore, where Brink stood at a podium wearing her infamous WHORE dunce hat as balloons filled the venue bouncing all over the place. A night consisting of a theatrical show it’s safe to say that In This Moment is definitely a band you have to see at least once! Great show and production and a good way to start the week off.
