Halestorm

On September 18th, 2013, Halestorm invaded the Wiltern in Los Angeles for the first time. This also happened to be Halestorm’s first headlining performance in Los Angeles since they won their Grammy for best rock album back in March.

The Wiltern has been host to some pretty great rock and metal acts for 2013, and on this night, they hosted a 2013 Grammy award winning band that has taken the rock scene by storm. Halestorm took the stage at 9pm and immediately had those in attendance cheering and raising the horns as drummer Arejay Halestorm came out to kick things off. 02

As the night went on, the momentum and adrenaline of the crowd rose as each song was being played. You could feel the excitement from the band as the crowd sang-a-long to each song. Los Angeles has a special place in its heart for Halestorm, at least from what we saw this night. 13

While many people can complain about them winning this award, it’s easy to see why they won one of the music industry’s biggest nominations. Lzzy Hale roars her guitar as her brother, Arejay Hale, cracks the foundation of the Wiltern with his monstrous drumming. Arejay is easily one of the top 3 best live drummers on the current touring market. This man is a beast when he is drumming, and yet, he still hits every note while flipping his drumsticks and jumping up and down. Add guitarist Joe Storm and Bassist Josh Storm, Halestorm is set to be a destructive force in the hard rock music scene, if they aren’t already.

Songs of the night include I miss the Misery, Here’s to Us, Rock Show, and Familiar Taste of Poison. There were also a few covers including: Straight Through the Heart (Dio), Gold Dust Woman (Fleetwood Mac), and Dissident Aggressor (Judas Priest).
