Billy Joel
May 17, 2014
Hollywood Bowl- Los Angeles, CA
Performing for the first time in his career at this historic venue, Billy Joel wowed the audience at his first of 3 SOLD OUT shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA on May 17, 2014. This multi-platinum, Grammy-winning singer and pianist performed hit after hit for nearly 2 hours, with his backing band who never missed a beat.
By his fourth song in the set, he let the audience decide the next song, whether it be Vienna or Summer Highland Falls to which the crowd picked Vienna. He continued his show by performing fans favorites such as The Scenes From an Italian Restaurant; New York State of Mind; Pressure; Say Goodbye to Hollywood which was performed for the first time since the 80’s and of course, Piano Man, which concluded his 18 song set.
But 18 songs wasn’t going to cut it for Billy Joel or the fans; it was no doubt that he came back and gave the audience 4 more songs including You May Be Right which just may have been one of the more unique songs that was performed as Joel was joined on stage by Maroon 5 singer and “sexiest man alive”, Adam Levine and guitarist of Elton John’s band, Davey Johnstone who got helped get the crowd’s energy back up. Joel and his backing band ended the night with Only the Good Die Young, which is obviously not true since Joel himself is 65, and is a little more than “good”; although you would have to witness his show for yourself to realize that.
