Secrets, Born of Osiris, The Word Alive, and The Devil Wears Prada
April 10, 2015
The Palladium- Worcester, MA
Twenty minutes before the show started, there was a lengthy line of people waiting to get tickets for the show. People continued to get tickets well into the start of the show. Secrets was the first band to go onto stage. They’re from San Diego, California and have been a band for the past five years. Four years ago they signed with Rise Records, and a year after that they released their debut album, The Ascent. They have since released another full-length, Fragile Figure, as well as a number of singles. On April 7th, they released an acoustic EP, Renditions. Secrets got the crowd going with hits from both albums including The Oath, Ready For Repair, Fragile Figures, Dance of The Dead, and Die Alone. Secrets will be on tour with The Devil Wears Prada until May 14th.
The second band of the night was Born of Osiris, who are from a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. Born of Osiris has been a band since 2003, but the name wasn’t decided on until 2007. Since then, they have released four full-length albums, The New Reign, A Higher Place, The Discovery, and Tomorrow We Die Alive, as well as one EP, Rosecrance. BOO played an eight song set with songs from Tomorrow We Die Alive, The New Reign, The Discovery, and Rosecrance. The crowd was singing along to most, if not all, the songs, and the floor had a circle pit going strong. They are on tour with The Devil Wears Prada until April 16th.
The third band was The Word Alive, who was very familiar most of the people attending the show. TWA is from Phoenix, Arizona and was formed in 2008. In 2009, they signed with Fearless Records, and released an EP, Empire, later that year. They have released three full-length albums since then, Deceiver (2010), Life Cycles (2012), Real. (2014). TWA played an energetic seven song set, which included songs from all three of their full-length albums. The circle pit on the floor was in full swing for TWA’s whole set. The fans who were on the level above the floor were either singing along, or were entertained by watching the band play. There wasn’t anyone in the crowd who looked bored, or who only came for The Devil Wears Prada. The lead singer, Tyler “Telle” Smith, used every part of the stage that he could, so there wasn’t a single spot in the venue where you had a bad seat. The rest of the band also made as much fan interaction as they could, standing on speakers, and jumping all around the stage. The Word Alive will be on tour with The Devil Wears Prada until April 16th, then they are in Asia from April 21-25, and then they will be back in the US for a co-headliner with Chelsea Grin and special guests Like Moths To Flames and Sylar from April 28-May 23.
Then the headliner of the night, The Devil Wears Prada. TDWP is from Dayton, Ohio and was formed in 2005. They have released five full-length albums, Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord, Plagues, With Roots Above and Branches Below, Dead Throne, and 8:18, as well as one EP, Zombie. In March 2015, TDWP announced that they signed with Rise Records and that they would be releasing a new EP, Space. TDWP performed a fifteen song set, which included songs from With Roots Above ad Branches Below, 8:18, Plagues, Zombie, a new song off of Space ,and Dead Throne. They played their EP Zombie in full, which is where they had come up with the name for the tour. The crowd was singing or screaming the lyrics for all fifteen songs, as well as crowd surfing to their favorites. The Devil Wears Prada continues the Zombie 5 tour with Secrets, Born of Osiris, and The Word Alive until April 16th, then Secrets, and Sleepwave will open the rest of the dates until May 14th.
