Rams Head Live- Baltimore, MD
November 24th, Baltimore MD: Motion City Soundtrack wasn’t the headlining band that night but their performance made them seem to be the official so called “headlining band.” They sounded amazing. As the guys of MCS took the stage, the trailer to Stars Wars: The Force Awakens played throughout the crowd. Opening up the set with Everything Is Alright the fans were singing every word right back to them. The band played a mixture of new songs, old songs and how front man Justin Pierre’s vocals seemed to be a bit strung out since it was closer to the end of the run of this tour, sounded so sharp and on point. That’s not to take away from the rest of the band, which of course sounded just as good as the CD’s.
Keyboardist Jesse Johnson’s dance-inducing synth breakdowns during songs like L.G. FUAD and Time Turned Fragile were what really made the set list truly energetic. Motion City Soundtrack did an amazing job of mixing in old with the new. Motion City Soundtrack’s set wasn’t just a musical experience; it was also a light show for people farther in the crowd. The lights flickered along with the music and the emotion of each individual song throughout the band’s set.
By far the crowd was the loudest when the headliner, The Wonder Years took the stage. The band opened up with Brothers & the audience was screaming every word to every song right back to frontman, Soupy Campbell. Throughout the night The Wonder Years played some songs that were older and some of the most popular songs from The Wonder Years’ most recent summer release No Closer To Heaven.
Florida based quintet You Blew It! were up first to get the crowd warmed up. As well as New York natives, State Champs really got the crowd on their feet before Motion City Soundtrack took the stage.
