Bullet For My Valentine

The Wiltern- Los Angeles, CA
As Los Angeles’ Friday traffic crowded the streets, hard rock fans were ushered into the Wiltern Theater for a nearly sold out night of British rockers, Bullet For My Valentine (technically they’re Welsh) and openers Asking Alexandria.
Kicking off the night was the Metalcore band, While She Sleeps from Sheffield, England. The five piece band did a good job warming up the crowd with singer, Lawrence Taylor head banging along with fans. The band encouraged the crowd to be in constant motion and guitarist, Mat Welsh had no shortage of breath from constantly jumping up and down.
Following While She Sleeps, was the UK Metalcore/ Heavy Metal band Asking Alexandria who had recently had a singer change. Being that this was the band’s first small club tour with their new lead singer, Denis Stoff, it was interesting to see how long time AA fans would react. Thankfully, fans were more than welcoming to Denis, and they clearly welcomed him into the AA Family. The band kicked off their night with I Won’t Give In, the first single that was released featuring Stoff. The band did an amazing job keeping up the energy and Stoff commanded the stage as if he was with the band since their inception in 2008.
At 9:30, it was finally the time fans had been waiting for, Bullet For My Valentine. The band kicked off the night with two songs from their latest album, Venom, with No Way Out and Skin. The circle pits automatically broke out in the small pit area and beer went flying through the venue. Michael Paget on lead guitar kept fans entertained as he pointed into the crowd and while shredding on his guitar while bassist, Jamie Mathias provided the screams in between Matthew Tuck’s vocals. Although their drummer, Michael Thomas is sitting out for a few months, Jason Bowld was an excellent replacement, never missing a beat and even giving one very entraining drum solo, mid set. BFMV gave fans a very energetic set performing from their array of albums and performing hits including Your Betrayal, 4 Words (To Choke Upon), Scream Aim Fire and the two encores, Tears Don’t Fall and set closer, Waking The Demon.
The British Invasion tour was just that- the British came, they invaded and they conquered Los Angeles with three stand out performances that will leave fans’ ears ringing and bodies throbbing for the next two weeks. For all them metal lovers out there, go check out this tour ASAP and get your tickets before they sell out! You don’t want to miss this.
