Interview with Ruth B
All the way from Edmonton, Singer-Songwriter Ruth B blew away the internet with a single line about Peter Pan on her Vine channel. Instantly that one little line turned into what is now her biggest single yet, known as, Lost Boy. We got a chance to talk to the rising star about the instant fan base , some of her musical idols and her plans for future music and more!
Soundcheck411: As your fandom continues to grow more and more, for those who aren’t familiar with you quite yet, can you introduce yourself?
Ruth B: Well my name is Ruth b! I’m a singer songwriter who’s in love with all things music!
SC411: How and when did your career as a musician get started? What truly inspired you?
RB: I’ve always been very passionate about music but as far as my career, it started about a year ago. That’s when I took up writing music. Which all started because of six second clip about being a lost boy.
SC411: Have you always been interested in being a musician?
RB: Yes. Music was always my thing
SC411: Who are some artists that inspired you to pursue in such a career?
RB:I love Lauryn Hill, The Beatles, Ed Sheehan – anyone who tells a good story.
SC411: What inspires each song you write? Are there different methods/processes involved?
RB: Inspiration for songs come from just about anything. I feel like there’s a song to be found in every experience.
SC411:Can you describe your music?
RB: I think my music is raw and honest
SC411: You’re signed to Columbia Records, what/how did you feel when signing with them?
RB: I was very happy when I signed with Columbia. They really understood my vision and that’s all I really wanted
SC411:Do you think you made the right choice by signing with them?
RB:Yes. I’m very happy with my choice
SC411: You’re embarking on tour with a full band, plus two fantastic artists such as Alessia Cara and Nathan Sykes. What are some expectations you have for this tour?
RB: I’m just really excited to start performing with the band. Also really looking forward to seeing Alessia and Nathan’s sets!
SC411:Where are some places you have never been before are you looking forward to the most?
RB:I’ve never been to Detroit and I’m SO excited about that because I love Eminem.
SC411:Is there anything you can tell viewers what to expect from you within the near future? Any new music coming from you?
RB: I’ve got a full album on the way which I’m so exited to share with people.
SC411: Is there is anything else you would to say to your fans before closing out this interview?
RB: I’d love to say thanks or all the support and thanks for believing in me. You are special.
