New Found Glory

2017 sees American Pop Punkers New Found Glory celebrate their twenty year anniversary. Fans largely awaited outside O2 Bristol Academy as the queue stretched round the corner. Throughout the tour the band will play their entire discography, however tonight they were playing their highly acclaimed second album Sticks and Stones alongside their much loved third album Catalyst.
Supporting them on their UK tour were Eastboune based pop punk band Roam, a fairly new band on the scene by comparison. However over the last few years they have been making quite a name for themselves, signing to the same label as New Found Glory ‘Hopeless Records’ as well as playing festivals including Vans Warped Tour and Reading & Leeds Festival.
Roam wasted no time setting the tempo for the night. Playing tracks from their latest album release Backbone including the single Deadweight as well as playing their latest single releases Alive and Playing Fiction which will feature on their next album Great Heights and Nosedives which will be released October 13th. Despite a short set the band’s energy kept the audience captivated. There’s no doubt that Roam supporting New Found Glory will give them a lot of exposure, which they truly deserve and with a new album on the way they are defiantly a band to look out for.
As New Found Glory entered the stage there were cheers from the crowd as they opened with Understatement & everyone was in full voice. The band’s energy was relentless throughout the set and notably Jordan Pundit didn’t stop running across the stage. This was matched from the crowd as there were people crowd surfing and despite it being a long set the fans energy didn’t stop. It was so nice to see the band having so much fun even after all these years, this was apparent from the band’s banter between each other and with members of the crowd. As well as playing the classics such as All Downhill From Here; Its Been A Summer and The Story So Far the band also played Happy Being Miserable from their latest release Makes Me Sick.
Notably it was great seeing the range of ages attending the show and proves the point that even after twenty years New Found Glory are still influencing and engaging with audiences just as they’ve always had done. New Found Glory is a band that doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon with performances like this one and it’s clear that the fans are more than happy to support them. I’m sure we’ll see them for many years to come.
