Macklemore
November 11, 2017
The Fillmore – Silver Spring, MD
Currently touring on his latest solo record, Gemini, Macklemore sold out the 2500 cap venue located in Silver Spring, known as The Fillmore.
After two opening acts, at 9:10 pm sharp the lights went out the chatter disappeared and turned into screams. Boy did it get louder and louder. The stage & production was definitely one of the bests and consisted of a huge led background screen and lights coming from the sides and above, plus enough room for Macklemore and his crew to dance around the stage and have the time of their life.
Opening up the set with Ain’t Gonna Die Tonight instantly the crowd went wild. Only twelve total songs were on his original setlist. In between songs Macklemore was very talkative and interactive with the crowd, he spoke of his daughter, his newest record and more. Throughout the night he played songs such as Marmalade, Willy Wonka and Firebreather which are all off his latest record, Gemini. Not only did he perform a good handful of his newest solo material he threw it back and performed older hits such as Thrift Shop, Same Love and Can’t Hold Us. After blowing through so many good songs and having everyone in the sold out crowd dancing like crazy he ended his twelve song setlist with Can’t Hold Us.
After ending his set the fans went crazy screaming and shouting for more, as Macklemore reappeared on stage to perform his encore, he played a total of four songs in his encore which included Excavate, Good Old Days, Downtown with Eric Nally and officially ending the night with Glorious.
It’s safe to say even without his sidekick Ryan Lewis, Macklemore still puts on one hell of a show and really brought down the house in the DMV!
