The Used and Taking Back Sunday
March 21, 2014
In The Venue- Salt Lake City, Utah
The Used headed into their hometown on March 21, 2014 to play at In The Venue in Salt Lake City, UT. The show was absolutely SOLD OUT on their first night along with their second date March 22. Also co-heading the tour with them was Taking Back Sunday, both bands on tour with their new album releases.
Soundwave was the first band to go up. The pressure surely was on when Soundwave kicked the concert off to a wild start. The crowd was not left disappointed. Tonight Alive was next to go up and opened with their song The Fire. Jenna McDougall front women of the band never disappointed the crowd by how energetic she gets on stage. The crowd lost it when they played The Ocean. Tonight Alive left the crowd willed with energy as they ended with Lonely Girl.
Finally one of the bands that the crowd had been waiting was up next- Taking Back Sunday. The moment the lights dimmed, the crowd started screaming their lungs out as the band headed to the stage starting off with Stood a Chance. They warmed the hearts of their many fans as they mentioned how amazing the crowd was being. Unfortunately their last song was up MakeDamnSure. Taking Back Sunday left many of the fans begging for just one more song as the crowd just did not want them to end yet.
Soon enough, it was time for The Used to perform. Many fans screamed wildly as their hearts pounded with excitement. This is what many were waiting for the whole night. The time had come. As the lights dimmed for The Used, that’s when the real show began. The building roared with screams of fans as soon as the band stepped onto the stage, starting with their song Cry. The Used owned the stage that night, since Utah is the band’s home town after all. The lightening for the band’s set was sick, which only made the quality of the concert better. Not to mention that The Used touched many fans hearts. Lead vocalist Bert McCracken explained their amazing story of how everybody can make the change to the world in a positive matter. The Used brought down the house with the following songs Take It Away; The Bird and the Worm; The Taste of Ink; Listening; I Caught Fire; All That I’ve Got; Buried Myself Alive; Put Me Out; The Best of Me and Pretty Handsome Awkward. After the extraordinary performance the fans screamed for one more song as The Used ended the night A Box Full of Sharp Objects.
The concert overall was absolutely amazing. It was a wild night, and many fans wished for it to never end. This was the first tour date in Utah yet the concert really was a once in a lifetime performance. The concert was legendary and they have another one set for the following night March 22nd. Be sure to catch this legendary concert if it hasn’t sold out in a town near you.
