Selena Gomez
June 4, 2016
Verizon Center- Washington DC
Saturday, June 4th – Selena Gomez brought the Revival Tour to the Verizon Center in the Nation’s Capital. This being her biggest headlining tour to date, hours before the show even started, various aged “Selenators” lined up outside waiting impatiently for their night to begin. Doors were opened at 6:30pm, as the fans flowed into the arena, many rushed to either their seats or to snag some merch.
Opening up the night was the young and talented Bea Miller. She opened the night with one of her most recent singles Young Blood. After the band played on the row of drums, Miller finally walked on stage. Despite Miller having a very short set list, she played a majority of her most popular songs such as a newer song A Song Like You and her most recent single Yes Girl which turned into the song that ended her set, Fire N Gold.
Following Bea Miller, a band who has been slaying radio stations, DNCE came out on stage standing in front of blue LED screens that produced a silhouette of each member as the entire crowd screamed and cheered with excitement. The band definitely lightened up the life in this arena with not only their energetic personalities, but with the music they played. DNCE, fronted by former Jo’Bro, Joe Jonas, belted out some of their songs from their debut EP SWAAY such as their most recent single, Toothbrush and the most played song on the radio, Cake By The Ocean. Being that this was my first time seeing them live, all I can say is they put on a fantastic set! The energy they gave off got the crowd all pumped up and ready for Miss Gomez to take the stage.
A huge curtain covered the stage as a silhouette of Selena Gomez danced behind the massive curtain. She hit the stage as her set started off strong with the song, Revival, which had included amazing lights, back up dancers and of course, Gomez, who is such a flawless performer! The crowd were at least three times as loud as they were for DNCE. Throughout the night Gomez had many amazing costume changes, matching outfits to fit the tone of different songs.
Fans passionately sang every single word of every song Gomez performed including old songs such as, Who Says, Love You Like A Love Song and not only did she sing her most popular songs from her latest record Revival, she also covered Transfiguration by Hillsong United as well as I Want You To Know by Zedd, which she sang flawlessly. To end a beautiful show she closed with a very energetic remix of Revival hyping up fans before the show ended by jumping around on stage and whipping her hair around the stage just fully enjoying herself.
Selena Gomez, being one of the biggest pop stars definitely knows how to pull out all the stops. The tours production is phenomenal, the music is phenomenal, as is the vibe that the show gives off. The Revival Tour is Gomez’s biggest tour to date and it’s definitely not one to miss. Make sure you check out the remaining dates of this tour! You will NOT regret it.
