DC101 Presents Kerfuffle

After a few rainy days in the DMV area, the sun finally came out and gave fans a beautiful day to sit back and relax as Kerfuffle returned to Merriweather with a stacked lineup and a whole lotta fun.
As doors opened approximately at 12:30pm, the massive crowd of people piled into Merriweather to take advantage of the beautiful weather that we finally got (and deserve). Kickstarting the amazingly stacked lineup of this years Kerfuffle was The Unlikely Candidates. For an opening band they really knew how to interact with the crowd even though more fans are yet to come later in the day.
Next up was a two piece , hailing from Austin, Texas was Missio. An Alternative/Electronic/Chillwave band definitely nailed their set by bringing so much energy into the pavilion. Vocalist Matthew Brue was all over the stage as Keyboardist David Butler had his braided pig tails flying around in the air. The band closes out with their single Middlefinger, as fans in the crowd held up a foam middle finger with the band’s logo on it.
After an energetic set from Missio, Brooklyn based band Highy Suspect took the stage. Vocalist Johnny Stevens dabbed his way on stage following the Meyer Brothers who are also in the band. Due to a short amount of time on stage, Highly Suspect pulled out the stops during their set. The band played songs such as Lydia, My name is Human and they ended with Look Alive, Stay Alive.
Due next was that one handsome band from across the pond, known as Catfish and The Bottlemen. It was obvious that the younger female fans in attendance were here to gush over lead singer, Ryan McCann. Due to time restrictions the band only had an eight song setlist, but managed to play songs such as Homesick, Twice and ended with Tyrants.
After a set from the hunky British guys, one of the spunkiest bands took the stage, Fitz and The Tantrums. Immediately things turned into a dance party as Fitz and The Tantrums took the stage. Opening up their set with one of their most popular singles, Out Of My League, the whole crowd instantly turned into dancing fools. The chemistry between vocalists, Noelle Scaggs and Fitz make the show much more enjoyable. The pair performed very well together. A few other songs played during their set was radio hit Hand Clap and single Roll Up. The set ended with The Walker.
After a quick set change, Jimmy Eat World finally took the stage. The venue seemed to get more and more crowded at this point of the festival meaning it’s close to the end and we got only two more bands left. The band packed as many songs as they can into their hour long set, the band played fan favorites such as the popular single, The Middle, as well as Pain and Sweetness.
Next on the bill was the legendary Weezer! The very mellow band led by Rivers Cuomo took the stage to a whole pavilion in an roar as they opened with Hash Pipe. Honestly Weezer should’ve been the main headlining band, but unfortunately they weren’t. But that’s okay because fans were treated to a 13 song setlist that consisted of so many old school Weezer jams such as My Name Is Jonas, Pork and Beans, the mellow jam Island in the Sun and of course the Weezer anthem, Beverly Hills. After playing such an killer set unfortunately things had to come to an end and they closed their set out with Buddy Holly.
Kings Of Leon closed out the DC101 Kerfuffle with a bang! Cannot wait for next year!
