Deep Purple & Alice Cooper
August 23, 2017
Jiffy Lube Live – Bristow, VA
Deep Purple, who are continuing their long goodbye tour and Alice Cooper & co who played all the hits did not disappoint all the 70’s-80’s-90’s music fans one bit.
Alice Cooper took the stage before Deep Purple did and to be quite honest, AC with the longer setlist definitely should have headlined this tour. Nothing against Deep Purple at all, but Alice Cooper and his band slayed the stage leaving some very high expectations. As Cooper took the stage, the fiery rain came pouring down as the intro played and the band opened with Brutal Planet.
Cooper and his band really gave such an amazing and eye catching show, from the insane lighting to throwing out “Alice Cooper Dollars” and having weird creatures on stage, what more can you ask for? The band gave fans a hefty eighteen song setlist with almost every single popular Alice Cooper song on the setlist. Some included No More Mr. Nice Guy, Poison and Billion Dollar Babies. After such an energetic set from not only the band but Mr Alice Cooper himself, he’s definitely proved he’s still got life in him after all these years. After their set slowly came to an end they ended up coming back out for a solo encore playing the very fitting School’s Out single to top off the night.
After Alice Cooper’s set, it would definitely be hard to pull off an even greater set, not going to lie. After a short intermission Deep Purple took the stage with an intro of a really cool space like feel/noises to it. The band’s faces were displayed as Mount Rushmore on the jumbo screen, which was pretty cool. The band opened up with Highway Star instantly giving off such a good vibe. Unfortunately for the fans in attendance the “headliners” didn’t really give them much to watch as they only played a dozen songs such as their most popular tune, Smoke On The Water, and a few others such as Space Truckin and Strange Kind Of Woman. Despite the band being slightly older than most bands still performing they definitely put on a great show that was full of energy. They ended their twelve song setlist with Hush.
