Trivium and Arch Enemy are two of metal’s biggest bands right now. Both bands have also released new albums this year so it was no surprise to see both bands team up for a big tour. One of the stops on the tour was the Wiltern in Los Angeles, California. Fans were so eager to see this tour that it ended up selling out. Judging from the band shirts worn, it was clear the many more fans were there for Trivium and chances are, had never seen nor even heard of a magnificent Swedish melodic death metal band like Arch Enemy. By the time Arch Enemy came on, the venue was already packed with metalheads.
The lights went out and fans cheered as the members of Arch Enemy came out. Arch Enemy released their tenth studio album Will to Power on September 8, 2017. With that, they started the show with the first single from the album, The World Is Yours. A powerful start to the band’s show which quickly started a mosh pit on the venue’s floor. The last member to come out was the blue-haired goddess Alissa White-Gluz who has been the band’s singer since 2014. White-Gluz displayed her powerful vocals to carry on the Arch Enemy legacy. The second song played was Ravenous and is one of the band’s more popular tracks. The band’s stage setup was very impressive with bright strobe lights which went with really well with the band’s stage presence. Arch Enemy shredded away with guitarists Michael Amott (founding member) and the famed Jeff Loomis who was announced as the band’s newest guitarist in 2014. Arch Enemy would go on to perform songs from throughout their 20+ years career which included War Eternal, My Apocalypse, Bloodstained Cross, and We Will Rise. Arch Enemy left the stage, but the lights remained off. After a little while, the band came back out for an encore. Their choice of song was the band’s best-known song, Nemesis. Arch Enemy finished their set and left the stage warming up the audience. Hopefully they made plenty of new fans with their performance.
Trivium released their eighth album The Sin and the Sentence on October 20, 2017. The lights went out once again and the whole venue erupted into a roar as the members of Trivium came out and started the show with the first track from the opening album, The Sin and the Sentence. The floor of the venue came alive as fans started jumping and moshing to the music as they were very happy to see the band. Right away, you could tell the band has a very energetic stage presence as the band members ran around on stage and were accompanied by an impressive light show ranging from different colors to pure white. The next track played was Down From the Sky from the band’s famed Shogun album and was happily greeted by fans as they continued going wild. Trivium kept up playing songs from the new album as they played Betrayer which was a more thrash metal-influenced song that had the crowd going just as wild. Trivium kept the energy going to their show as they played songs from throughout their catalog which included Strife, Rain, The Heart From Your Hate, and Kirisute Gomen. Each song played was as energetic as the last as Trivium made sure there was not a dull moment in their performance. The show seemed to come to an end as Trivium played Thrown Into the Fire. The crowd wasn’t ready to call it a night just yet and so Trivium came back out to please their fans and perform an encore. The encore of choice was In Flames, the title track from their 2011 album of the same name. Trivium wrapped up their show, thanked the audience for coming out, then left the stage once again.
