Bring Me The Horizon

The Forum – Los Angeles, CA
What suddenly ended up being the last show of their several month tour, Bring Me The Horizon rocked The Forum in Los Angeles, CA. Shortly after the show, the band announced that they would have to cease the remainder of their tour due to singer Oli Sykes ruptured vocal cord.
The Forum is a big venue- one of the biggest venues in Los Angeles so when I found out Bring Me The Horizon was performing at that venue, I was impressed, shocked and skeptical. Can a rock band- a heavy rock band at that- perform in such a big venue in Los Angeles? I had lots of questions but arrived, excited for what was to come.
Out promoting their latest album, amo, which received a mixed reactions, the band kicked off the set with confetti exploding into the crowd as I Apologise If You Feel Something ended and their first single off the latest album, Mantra, began. These were the first two of 6 songs to be performed from the latest album. The band did a good job mixing it up, including 6 tracks from That’s The Spirit and 4 from Sempiternal.
While the bandmates themselves were doing a great job entertaining the crowd, one couldn’t help but notice the rather empty venue. While I thought it was impressive for them to be playing at this venue, I feel like two or three nights in a smaller venue like the Palladium or Wiltern would have suited them better. Not only because the venue wasn’t packed, but because the band didn’t have the proper production for an arena show like this one. There were no screens on the sides of the stage so the people in the nosebleeds could see the show. The graphics and confetti and CO2 canons were cool, but all something that would have more impact in a smaller venue.
