104.5 Birthday Show 2014 ft. Foster the People

104.5 Birthday Show

May 11, 2014

The Susquehanna Bank Center- Camden, NJ

The 7th annual 104.5 Birthday Show at The Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden NJ was a blast; it was an extremely fun atmosphere to be a part of. Live Nation and the 104.5 staff were incredibly kind and accommodating and the fans were quite a colorful and pleasant combination. High waisted shorts, crop tops, and flower headbands were everywhere. Bands like Foster The People; Cage The Elephant; Bastille; and Foals and more made for a great night in the indie music scene.  Evidently the lineup is considered to be a dream to indie music enthusiasts of today from all over.

Local band We Speak in Sounds opened up the show; the 4 piece brought refreshing young talent to stage. We Speak in Sounds is a band the produces music that can be enjoyed by anyone and they are certainly a band to watch out for! St. Lucia kept the hype with their mellow feel-good jams, easily enjoyed by singing fans throughout the venue. A band known as Kongos followed; who put on a fun performance that really kept viewers interested and engaged. It was a great performance leading up to the band Foals. With the immense amount of emotion behind it’s vocals and instrumentals, the band surely turned heads. Fans really seemed to be enjoying what Foals had to offer. The band carried out a killer performance and Foals is definitely a band that should be added to your playlist.

Bastille (14)Reigning from London, UK, Bastille, sadly had terrible lighting aside from the first song. Lead vox, Dan Smith led the 4 piece with distinct vocals, fist pumps and head bangs. It seemed that the arena was packed with a significant amount of die hard Bastille fans as quite a few fans poured out of the venue directly after their set.

Cage The Elephant put on one of the best sets of the night;  the singer, Matt Shultz was all over the stage and such a significant amount of energy poured from the stage. In addition to their phenomenal music, with the emotion and drama of their body language and performance all together, Cage The Elephant is a band you MUST see live.

Third Eye Blind caused a classic case of nostalgia for many attendees throughout the venue.  Fans, staff, photographers, were all singing a long. They played a variety of great songs– Never Let You Go; Semi-Charmed Life and Narcolepsy“being a few among the rest. Third Eye Blind was incredible.Foster the People (15)

Foster The People tore up the stage and gave the audience something to cheer for. The guys put on a pristine performance, satisfying star-struck fans across the board. Their stage set up consisted of icicle-like light up objects and round standing lights. Though the fog machine was a bit overbearing throughout most if the show, The band’s stage lights were colorful and made for a beautiful light show. Foster The People played an array of great material such as fan favorites Pumped Up Kicks Houdini and Are You What You Want To Be? Foster The People closed out the night with a killer performance of Don’t Stop (Color On The Walls). What a great way to celebrate 7 years of awesome music with Radio 104.5!
