Whisky A Go-Go- Los Angeles, CA

Last Friday, May 16, 2014, hundreds of fan-girls and men of all ages gathered at the Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles, CA to see Crazytown.  All types gathered ; older women with their husbands hanging out in the back, young 20 somethings that were sharing stories of how they’ve dreamed of Seth Binzer since they were teens, and then quite a grasp of men of all ages dressed like they could easily be going on stage as well. Crazytown is best known for Butterfly – cite off a few lyrics and mostly anyone raised in the 90s will respond with ‘’oh yeah, I remember those guys”.

Crazytown Whisky (1) To be perfectly honest, I didn’t know what to expect. The opening bands were a range of hair metal to hard rock. But as this group took stage, the crowd started inching closer to the stage, and the hip-hop rock free styling began rushing through the Whisky’s speakers

Crazytown has updated their sound a long way since Butterfly. Whether you’ve been following lead singer Seth Binzer’s personal life or not, most have heard of his random stints on celebrity television shows. As a chick that digs anything from The Dandy Warhols to Tyr to Kid Cudi, I truly enjoyed the even blend of DJ style laptop mixing, quick witted lyrics and all while maintaining an even hard rock feel with the band in the background. I can safely say the most admirable part of their performance was the genuine intensity that shone through it all. The crowd-performer engagement was truly mesmerizing as Binzer rapped and the backing band did their thing. Their show was fun and inviting and being the band’s first reunion show, it was definitely a success.
