The Fillmore- Silver Spring, MD
I’m not so sure if it was just me or not but there was such a good vibe coming from The Fillmore. To sell out this show, it took about 30 minutes right when they went on sale. 311 was taking over the stage here in Silver Spring with special guest, Matisyahu. Around 7pm fans packed into the venue, as 8:30 rolled around the lights dimmed and the show started.
Matisyahu was up first, the band started with a more on the instrumental side. This band didn’t really give off an good energy (getting the crowd all hyped up for 311) their set was based on very calming colors and gave off more of a relaxing vibe. At times the band would pick up the pace but stayed very mellow throughout their set. Matsiyahu gave the crowd a little treat by covering the legendary Rastafarian, Bob Marley.
After a very mellow set from Matisyahu, the crowd seemed to be bursting with excitement because it was almost time for the main event. As the band took the stage, everyone quickly got to their feet and the party finally began. 311 played a jam packed 22 song set that featured many songs from over the band’s 25 year history, plus was their four song encore. The band lead by Nick Hexum played many of their most popular hits such as Down, Amber, All Mixed Up and Unity. Their encore was absolutely full of energy as they played Friday Afternoon, Who’s Got The Herb as well as a crowd given choice between Fuck The Bullshit or Creatures, which the crowd went with Fuck The Bullshit.
If you’re looking to attend a show this summer that feels more like one big party filled with togetherness, then this tour is the one for you because 311 and Matisyahu are always ready to party!
