Joywave Open The “Home Of The Strange Tour”

Joywave
August 11th, 2017
Wamu Theatre- Seattle, WA

Joywave have toured with incredible bands such as The Killers and Foals since they formed back in 2010, but this summer they added Young The Giant’s Home Of The Strange Tour to their impressive touring history. Soundcheck411 caught Joywave’s set on this tour this month in Seattle, WA!
So you’re most likely wondering, who are Joywave? They are an indie rock band from Rochester, New York. The band consists of 5 band members – Daniel Armbruster (vocalist), Joseph Morinelli (guitarist), Sean Donnelly (bassist), Benjamin Bailey (keyboardist) and Paul Brenner (drummer). They have released 2 mixtapes 77777 (2011) & 88888 (2013) and 2 EPs Koda Vista (2012) & How Do You Feel (2014) and 2 full length albums titled How Do You Feel Now (2016) and their latest release Content (2017) (which just came out in August).
If you’re also wondering if you should show up early to catch their set, the answer is HELL YES!
When we caught their set in Seattle a lot of people were still arriving during their set and the crowd didn’t really fill up until the very end of their short performance – which only consisted of 7 songs and you could tell people were bummed they hadn’t showed up earlier but hey- if you snooze, you lose.
They put on an electrifying set that had fans dancing the entire time they were on stage! They played songs such as Shutdown and Doubt from the album they just released two days prior to the show, as well as old songs the crowd knew such as Tongues. Fans who had shown up early enough to catch the entire set left new fans.
We can’t wait to see where their new album takes them this year. Check out photos from the tour below!
